Lyme Regis is a town built so you never have to leave your dog behind. Walk the harbour at low tide and you’ll count as many leads as prams. Step into most of its cafés and a water bowl tends to appear before you’ve pulled out a chair. Dogs here aren’t just tolerated, they’re looked after. From the beaches to the backstreets, your dog can have as good a stay as you do. These are our favourite dog-friendly cafés in Lyme Regis, six spots we keep coming back to. Whether you’re after breakfast, a quick lunch, or coffee on the beach, there’s a stop here for it.

Dog Friendly Cafes for Breakfast

A Bakery Morning, Dog Included

TOWN MILL BAKERY

Tucked away on Coombe Street, Town Mill Bakery is our go-to for breakfast with a dog in tow. It’s a bakery as well as a café, with long communal benches and the smell of that day’s sourdough in the air. The cakes are worth the walk back on their own, and the Eccles cakes here are, honestly, the best we’ve had anywhere. Dogs are welcome in the covered courtyard. You can settle in with a coffee while the loaves cool on the counter behind you. Order the sourdough pancakes if they’re on, and don’t leave without an Eccles cake for the road. Fuel up here before heading down along the river to the harbour, a good first stop for the morning.

Breakfast With a View, and Room for a Lead

LYME BAY CAFE

Lyme Bay Cafe is a proper, generous space with a seafront view. It’s the one we save for slower mornings, when nobody’s in a rush. Dogs are welcome outside only, which suits the setting anyway, since the terrace looks straight out over the bay. This isn’t a grab-a-coffee-and-go sort of place. Order properly, and let the morning stretch out a bit longer than usual. It’s also where we end up after a slow loop round Church Cliff, when a proper sit-down feels earned.

Dog Friendly Cafes for a Quick Stop

Quick Lunch, Paws Welcome

THE BAGEL SHOP

On the high street, The Bagel Shop is our pick for a quick lunch between errands. The build-your-own bagel option our favourite order, pick your bagel, your filling, and however many extras you fancy. There’s enough range, including gluten-free and vegan options, to work for most appetites, and dogs are welcome throughout. They also sell some great smoothies and coffee and is a cafe that will never disappoint. Grab one to go and eat it on a bench in Langmoor Gardens. It’s a favourite spot for looking out over the sea while the dog has a breather.

Coffee to Go, Then Straight to the Sand

KIOSK

Kiosk sits on Marine Parade overlooking the pebble beach. It’s exactly what you want when you just need a quick, good coffee before or after a walk on the sand. Deckchairs and waterproof pads are on hand if you’ve got time to settle in properly, though most days we’re in and out, coffee in one hand and a lead in the other. It’s genuinely dog-friendly, with breakfast bagels and Lyme Bay crab sandwiches if you want to make more of the stop. Grab a coffee in the morning, then take the dog on down to Monmouth Beach for a proper off-lead run. It’s the closest thing Lyme has to a dedicated dog beach.

A Quick, Sweet Stop for the Dog

THE CREPERIE

For something sweet, The Creperie just off Broad Street is a quick one. It’s good for a snack on the move, or a light lunch if you time it right. It’s a tiny operation, mostly takeaway, with a handful of tables in and out for anyone who wants to sit a while. Sweet crêpes, savoury buckwheat galettes, and proper barista coffee are all on offer, ready in the time it takes a dog to get bored of waiting.

Five Dog-Friendly Cafes in Lyme Regis

That’s five dog-friendly cafés in Lyme Regis, and not a lead length between them where your dog isn’t welcome. It’s the kind of town where dogs are woven into daily life rather than squeezed in around the edges. They’re allowed in nearly every shop on the high street. Most of the beaches welcome them for a good part of the year too, and they’re treated less like guests and more like locals. If you’re planning the trip properly, Lym House makes a natural base for it. It’s a five-bedroom Georgian home a short walk from every cafe on this list. There’s a boot room built for exactly this kind of morning: wet paws, sandy leads, and all.
