Winter on the Jurassic Coast

Winter on the Jurassic Coast

There’s a moment each winter on the Jurassic Coast when the crowd fade, the sea turns a deeper blue and the whole coastline feels it’s exhaling.

The cliffs glow gold in the low sun, the beaches fall quiet and in our little villages – Beer, Lyme Regis and Branscombe – become some of the most atmospheric places to wander.

For us at Obstgarten Homes, this is one of the most magical times of the year. Our heritage homes feel especially cosy, fires lit, warm lighting glowing against centuries-old beams and panelling, hot chocolate waiting in the kitchen or a not “toddy” as you play pool by the ingle-nook stoves.

If you are dreaming of a peaceful ecscape wrapped in comfortm winter might just be the perfect moment to visit

Winter Walks With Wild Coastal Beauty

The Jurassic Coast reveals a different kind of beauty in the winter – dramatic seas, crisp air and stunning light.

Our Favourite Winter Walks

  • Hooken Cliffs – A breaktaking undercliff walk with sweeping views out to sea. Calm, still and cinematic in winter
  • Beer to Branscombe – A classic coastal route ending at a cosy cafe or pub. Perfect for families.
  • Golden Cap – Englands highest cliff – the views on a clear winter day feel endless.
  • Charmouth Fossil Beaches – Winter is the best time for fossils. Fewer people mean more treasures to be found and the stormier weather reveal more gems!

  • The Millside Cafe, Lyme Regis
  • The Kiosk, Lyme Regis
  • The Sea Shanty, Branscombe
  • The Beach Cafe, Charmouth
